CiSMA pre-studies in sheet metal forming presented at NUMISHEET Conference 2025

CiSMA partners from Blekinge Institute of Technology and Volvo Cars showcased project pre-studies in sheet metal forming at NUMISHEET 2025

On 8 July, 2025, CiSMA partners from Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) and Volvo Cars showcased project pre-studies in sheet metal forming at the 13th NUMISHEET Conference, that took place in Munich, Germany, on 7-11 July, 2025.

NUMISHEET is one of the most significant international conferences on the area of the numerical simulation of 3D sheet metal forming processes.

During a dedicated session on overcoming industrial component challenges in sheet metal forming, Alexander Barlo from BTH presented the contribution “On the use of Process Work as an Indicator for Process Disturbance in industrial Sheet Metal Forming“. The publication was co-authored by Alexander Barlo (BTH) Martin Nitsche (AutoForm Engineering), Mats Sigvant (BTH and AutoForm Engineering), and Johan Pilthammar (BTH and Volvo Cars).

In a second contribution, Mats Sigvant presented the publication “Prediction of sheet metal part production robustness using advanced tribological models, thermo-mechanical modelling and stochastic FE-simulations“, co-authored by Mats Sigvant, Alexander Barlo, Md Shafiqul Islam, from BTH, and Johan Pilthammar.

These pre-studies highlight the CiSMA project’s solid foundation in advanced simulation and industrial application. Within the project, BTH leads the development of data-driven metal forming models, focusing on material selection and stochastic simulation, while Volvo Cars contributes through industrial demonstrators and collaborative research on material testing and modelling.

By uniting academic innovation with real-world manufacturing expertise, CiSMA is paving the way for more efficient and sustainable metal forming solutions in the automotive sector.
