CiSMA research was presented at CNMAT 2026, the XVIII Congreso Nacional de Materiales, held from 16 to 19 June 2026 in Portugalete-Bizkaia. The conference brought together the Spanish materials science and engineering community to share recent advances, innovative solutions and perspectives across a wide range of materials research fields.

The CiSMA contribution included a keynote by Carlos Capdevila from CENIM-CSIC and a poster by Guillermo during a session on Processing and Microstructural Control Technologies. The poster, titled “Design of scrap-based advanced high-strength steels: mitigation of tramp elements through microstructural engineering”, was presented on the afternoon of 18 June 2026.

The work addressed the design of scrap-based advanced high-strength steels, focusing on mitigating tramp elements through microstructural engineering. The study highlights strategies to overcome key metallurgical challenges and support the use of recycled steel in high-performance applications.

By presenting this research at CNMAT 2026, CiSMA strengthened its visibility within the national materials science community and highlighted the role of microstructural control in the transition towards circular and lower-emission steel production.
