Eurecat took part in the Steel & Hydrogen Conference (the 5th International Conference on Metals and Hydrogen), held from 14 to 16 October in Ghent, Belgium, organised by OCAS and Ghent University.

At the conference, Amadeu Concustell and Silvia Molas from the Metallic and Ceramic Materials Unit at Eurecat, presented the poster “Fracture resistance and local formability of advanced high strength steels in presence of hydrogen” summarising key results from four EU-funded projects coordinated by Eurecat: H2FORM3G, CiSMA, COOPHS, and Safe&Clean

In this work, the influence of Hydrogen content on the formability and fracture resistance of CP 1200 is assessed by means of Hole Expansion Tests and the Essential Work of Fracture methodology. The proposed method is shown to be a fast and simple tool to readily measure Hydrogen Embrittlement susceptibility.

Eurecat’s engagement at the event facilitated knowledge exchange among experts dedicated to advancing low-carbon and hydrogen-enabled steelmaking. The Steel & Hydrogen conference is recognised for bridging academic and industrial perspectives, with thematic sessions covering hydrogen–microstructure interactions, hydrogen embrittlement, hydrogen detection, and related phenomena in metals.
